Villa la Selva, Tuscany, Italy

Stephanie & Evan
Stephanie Spagnolo and Evan Zaltz’s love story began with a spontaneous question at a bar—when Stephanie asked a group of guys if they knew any cute, single friends, one of them pointed right at Evan. What followed was an unforgettable night spent together admiring Toronto’s art installations during the Nuit Blanche festival. Six years later, after a move to England and numerous COVID-thwarted wedding plans, Evan popped the question in front of London’s iconic Tower Bridge, a gesture that set the stage for their perfect celebration.
On Christmas night, they celebrated their engagement at Hotel Café Royal, popping Champagne and calling loved ones while taking in the festive lights of Regent Street. It was clear from the start that their wedding would reflect their shared love of travel, adventure, and their Italian heritage. For them, there could be no better place than the rolling hills of Tuscany, and Villa La Selva Wine Resort became the venue where their dream wedding would unfold.

Stephanie envisioned a celebration that embraced the natural beauty of Tuscany’s landscapes. She wanted the décor to complement the stunning surroundings, so she chose greenery, soft florals, and wood accents that blended seamlessly with the venue’s charm. With the help of Paulina Weddings to capture every precious moment, and Flowers Living to craft breathtaking floral arrangements, everything came together beautifully.
Choosing her bridal gown, however, proved to be a challenge. After trying on nearly 40 dresses, Stephanie finally found the one—Made with Love’s Elsie dress. The lace design was romantic and perfect for an Italian countryside wedding, while the bows added an unexpected touch of intrigue. She paired it with a tennis bracelet Evan had gifted her for her 30th birthday, David Yurman drop earrings, and sparkling Jimmy Choo heels she’s sure to wear again and again. With her hair styled in glamorous Hollywood waves and sunkissed makeup by Lara Navarrini, Stephanie was the epitome of bridal elegance.

For her bridesmaids, Stephanie chose the golden pink shade from Shona Joy’s La Lune collection, allowing each of her bridesmaids to select their own silhouette. Evan looked equally dashing in a custom midnight blue tuxedo from Suitsupply.
On June 11, 2022, the guests gathered beneath the cypress trees of Villa La Selva for the wedding ceremony. Stephanie’s entrance was not without a humorous moment—while waiting at the top of the grand marble staircase, she whispered to her coordinator, asking if Evan was on the right side. To her surprise, the entire crowd overheard, sparking laughter and easing her nerves before her walk down the aisle. Once she reached Evan, the civil ceremony, officiated in Italian and translated by a family friend, was a beautiful and meaningful start to their marriage.
The celebration continued with a sumptuous dinner by Il Sorriso, featuring burrata-filled tomatoes, pasta, truffle beef, and a host of emotional toasts. As the night unfolded, the music transitioned from a soft beach club vibe to high-energy tunes played by the band Love Beats. The newlyweds shared their first dance to an energetic rendition of Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros’ “Home,” setting the stage for the rest of the guests to join in.
The evening ended on a sweet note with the traditional millefoglie cake, coffee, tea, and drinks served in front of a bubbling fountain. One of the most memorable moments of the night came when the caterers invited the couple and their families to help prepare the cake in front of the guests—a unique and hands-on experience that made the celebration even more special.
From the stunning Tuscan venue to the heartfelt toasts and lively dance floor, Stephanie and Evan’s wedding was a perfect blend of elegance, humor, and Italian charm, a reflection of the adventure they’ve shared and the future they’ll build together.
